Advancing Home Ownership for Visible Minorities

In today’s housing landscape, affordability and equity are under increasing threat. skyrocketing rents, gentrification, and speculative real estate markets have created deep housing insecurity, especially for visible minorities, newcomers, and low-income communities who are consistently priced out of both the rental and homeownership markets.

New Horizon Social Enterprise exists to challenge this norm by bringing ethics and equity back into real estate. We believe that housing is not just a commodity — it is a public good and a foundation for dignity, security, and opportunity.

Our real estate approach is rooted in social purpose, not profit maximization. We focus on:

  • Developing and preserving affordable rental housing in underserved neighborhoods

  • Creating equitable pathways to homeownership for visible minorities who have been historically excluded from generational wealth creation

  • Converting abandoned or underused properties into stable homes and community assets

  • Offering below-market rental spaces for community programs and small minority-owned businesses

  • Reinvesting proceeds back into community supports, job creation, and wraparound services

Visible minorities — particularly newcomers and racialized groups — are overrepresented in overcrowded, substandard housing, and underrepresented in ownership and development. Without targeted, values-driven interventions, these disparities will deepen.

New Horizon Real Estate goes beyond building structures — we build economic inclusion, social mobility, and community resilience. Through ethical real estate, we ensure that marginalized communities can remain rooted in the city, contribute to its vibrancy, and access the same opportunities as everyone else.

At New Horizon, we’re not just creating homes — we’re correcting the imbalances of a system that has too often left people behind.
